Walkthrough: Trap Master
Friday, June 18th, 2010
Welcome to the Official Trap Master’s Walkthrough!
This walkthrough will reveal everything you need to do to finish Trap master. Yup, that`s right - read this and you will know how to beat the game and its 30 waves. CAUTION: reading this will take all the fun away from figuring it all by yourself and beating trap master with the sole power of your wits! Do you really want to play this way?. But hey, if you`re really really dying to know… keep on reading!
Basic Tips n’ Tricks:
Here are the five rules of thumb that you should always keep in mind while playing.
#1 - Offense is the best defense. The more you invest in your traps, the less you will have to put money to fix and/or upgrade our chest. Also, for every treasure hunters taken out by your traps, you’ll receive 10$ bonus; you’ll need it if you want to keep on upgrading your traps along the way.
#2 - Don’t just place your traps anywhere. You should always consider wisely where you set them. Optimal placement can make a whole world of difference when it comes to trap efficiency.
#3 - You should not invest too much money on the lower floor, for it can be easily neutralised using a few cheap, consumable Devices.
#4 - Before throwing money to repair your chest, consider fact that upgrading it up one level will refills its health to 100%.
Now, let’s get to the core of the subject: How to nail those waves!
Here we go!
Pick a Monster
The first two Monsters available are Maurice and Cézar. Maurice is rather slow and powerful, while Cézar is fast but slightly weaker when attacking. Cézar is a good choice for beginners since he’s easier to use early in the game, but Maurice might prove more powerful once upgraded to level 4 and 5. No matter which one you pick though, you will be able to make it through the game without too much trouble by following this walkthrough, so just choose whichever you think looks the coolest!
Wave 1 to 5: (Part 1/2)
First, try your best to protect your chest at all cost from the first wave! Since you don’t have any traps yet, you’ll have to do it mano-a-mano with your Monster. Fear not, though…those little peasants are nothing you can’t handle. Just try to eat most of them but don’t hesitate to shoot them up if they’re getting to close to your chest. If you managed to clear the wave untouched, you’ll receive a whopping 1000$ “Flawless Doomchest” bonus, so make sure you give it your best shot!
Wave 1 to 5: (Part 2/2)
As soon as you get enough money, make sure you set two Freezing Blasters on each side, preferably on the upper floors. The upper left and upper right Red Plug-Blocks (located on the ceiling) are a good choice because they are located near the upper doors and will freeze the enemies as soon as they get out. The leftmost and rightmost Plug-Blocks located on the Middle Floor also are a good choice, so as soon as you can, add two more right there.
So in a nutshell, by the end of Wave 5 you should have:
-2 Freezing Blasters of the upper right and upper left corners
-2 more Freezing Blasters on the leftmost and on the rightmost Plug-Blocks of the Middle Floor
I suggest you put any extra cash you have to upgrade those Freezing Blasters up to Level 5 ASAP for they will be very helpful for the whole game.
Wave 6 to 10:
From now on you’ll begin to see Catapults. Try your best to keep them at bay with your monster to avoid taking too much damage.
Now that you’ve got some more Contraptions, you’ll want to set some more.
It would be wise to put two Stompers each side of your Doomchest to protect it. With the rest of your money, upgrade the traps you already have and try to upgrade your Monster one level or two.
You can also add two more Corrosive Blasters along the way to re-enforce the whole thing a notch.
Boss fight (Part 1/2):
At Wave 10 you’ll have to fight the evil Wizard for the first time. To give you all the best chance to make it through that wave, use some blocs (wooden or stone, depending on your budget) on the upper floor above the chest to keep the bomber-dudes from dropping on your chest. Also, you’ll want to use 4 Explosive Ladders on the lower floor to jam it completely. If you have extra cash you can also afford some mines.
Boss fight (Part 2/2):
Once the setup is done, it’s show time! Concentrate all of your fire power on the boss and take advantage of every Fury mode that could spawn during the fight; only your Monster can damage him, your traps won’t do any damage! Once the boss is dead, the remaining of the wave will collapse instantly, so don’t worry about it too much.
