That's one hot dog!

The annual “I Got Game” contest gives AddictingGames players a chance to really be a part of the site! The “I Got Game” contest is designed so that one creative gamer gets their character brought to life through an amazing flash game that we make for them. On top of just having their game made, the winner gets some cool prizes and the notoriety for being just plain awesome when it comes to game design.

This year was our biggest year yet for the contest. With almost 100 entries being sent in, we had our work cut out for us and after a lot of time and thought we are happy to announce the winner for this year is Debbie from Flint MI. Debbie’s winning game game is called “Flame Puppy” and you can play it now by clicking the image above or by going to AddictingGames.com

Check back on the blog soon for more on the “I Got Game” contest to find out how next year the winner could be you!

Congratulations again to Debbie and Flame Puppy for both being great new additions to  AddictingGames.com

Top 5 Friday: Cursed Games For Friday The 13th!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Are you superstitious?

Are you superstitious?

Now that you have decided to read this blog you must play these next five games or be sentenced to unfortunate luck in life, love, fun, school and worst of all… a lifetime of bad game play (nooooo!). If follow these instructions carefully your curse will be wiped away faster than you can say, Friday the 13th

The Idiot Test
Are you an idiot? I didn’t think so, but what do I know I can’t read or write. Play this game now or be turned into an idiot.

Speed Dating
You can meet the man or woman of your dreams in an instant thanks to Speed Dating! Weed through the losers and toss the divas, your true love waits. If you don’t find Mr./Ms. Right you will have 5 years of bad dates. Oh the horror!

Escape the Wonderland Carnival
Do you have the fear of being trapped in an elevator, small space or worse, a Carnival! Play Escape the Wonderland Carnival or be sentenced to seven years of agoraphobia, the fear of being trapped in an inescapable place!!

High School Tower Defense
School can be a scary place with the pop quizzes and teachers telling you to sit up straight and to spit out your gum (even when it’s a new piece, rude!) and don’t even get me started on the jocks. Play High School Tower Defense or else you will spend the next four years getting tossed in trash cans.

Helicopter Game
What is worse than a bad game? Nothing! What would you do if you were stuck playing bad games for the rest of your life?! I hate to even think such a thought. Quick! Play Helicopter Game or else….

Now forward this to five of your friends within 15 minutes and you will receive three years of good luck. And within one hour your phone will ring. Trust me.

Chris on a big rock!

Chris on a big rock!

AddictingGames
is all about the games and the people who make them. Recently I had a chance to get the low down on game developer Chris Basmajian. Check out some of the games he has worked on and what hes doing when hes not crating addicting goodness!

Games I’ve worked on:
The first game I ever made was “50 States“. I’ve worked on some news games, including “Escape Paris“, “ButtSki Lift“, and “Where’s the Naughty Governor“, and some more high-brow intellectual games, like “Hide the Farta in Sparta.” I’m particularly proud of “Attention Hog“, which I made as an art project.

Games I like to play:
I like tower defense games, because they don’t require any hand/eye coordination. I lost my hand/eye coordination in the war.
Likes and Dislikes about making casual games:
I like not having to wear pants to work. Don’t you hate pants? It’s also nice that game projects only last between 3 days and 2 weeks. It’s satisfying to go from an idea to a finished game in such a short amount of time. Nothing kills a perfectly bad idea like careful consideration.
The only thing I dislike about making casual games is having to pretend that I know anything about casual games. There’s so much hip industry jargon bandied about, sometimes I feel like the kid at the prom with the homemade tuxedo.

Other interests:

I make interactive video art, which keeps me pretty occupied when I’m not making games or attempting to mind-meld with my baby daughter.
Advice for people who want to design games:
Don’t let good taste get in the way of great game.

Favorite Food?

The Bacon Shake (patent pending).

Favorite Movie?
Hmm, I don’t have a favorite movie, but I do have a favorite movie theater. I like the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco, they have a huge glass atrium, and you can drink in the balcony.

Have you ever bitten anyone in the butt?

When life bites you in the butt, bite back.

Do you have a website?

Walkthrough Wednesday: Pumpkin Remover

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Well I hope everybody had an amazing Halloween filled with good times and lots of candy. That however was last week and now we have to move on with our lives and get back to normal. One part of ending Halloween right is getting rid of the smelly pumpkin that was rotting on your porch for the last few weeks.

In honor of that chore I thought I’d dedicate this weeks “Walkthrough Wednesday” to one of our newest games “Pumpkin Remover“. It’s up to you to get rid of the unwanted pumpkins and because this can get tricky, I have included a very helpful video walkthrough to ensure you get the job done! Just a heads up, levels 13 and 20 are tricky with or with out the video so don’t get too frustrated if those levels take a while! Good luck and if you liked this game, give Red Remover a try! It’s just more the same great stuff from AddictingGames.com.

Last Minute Halloween Costumes From AddictingGames

Thursday, October 29th, 2009
What should I be??

What should I be??

With the big night just 2 days away I’m sure most of you already know what you are going to be for Halloween. However, I know that there are many people out there just like myself who always wait till the last minute to figure out their costume. For this post I’m going to give you some ideas on costumes you can put together from our games using stuff around the house. Here are some great costumes that you can pull off using some of our most classic characters.

red-remover Red Box - Red Remover

This is probably the easiest costume you could ever put together. All you need is a box and then some red paint or markers and a black marker to draw on a face! You can hit the town and tell people all about how you have spent hours trying to get rid of all the red. Find some friends to play along and you guys could make your own live action levels! If you actually do this, shoot a video and send it to us! I’d love to see that!

stick Stick Figure - Stick Wars

The Stick figure is a very under rated Halloween costume! You can be a stick-any thing! All you need is a full set of black clothes, a black ski mask with small eyes cut out or you can black your face out with make-up or face paint. Then grab your favorite weapon and lead your trick or treating party to war as the bravest stick on the block!

zombie TP Mummy - Throw Ancient Stuff

The Toilet Paper Mummy is always in your back pocket if you just can’t think of anything else! This is another fun costume to do as a group because the more mummies running around grunting the better! If you don’t have some extra tp at the house, 4 Packs of toilet paper can be found at most supermarkets or corner stores for around a dollar so the price is right for sure! Once you have your toilet paper, wrap your self up silly and you are good to go!

ghost Ghost - Boo

Probably the most classic Halloween costume ever is the bed sheet ghost. While it may seem lame and plain it’s up to you to make it different. Try using some colorful sheets. You can be a confused ghost or if the sheets have polka-dots you can be a sick ghost! It’s up to you to make the costume great because while you are dressing up as something else, it’s your personality that will shine through. This one is great for scaring little kids too!

So if you still don’t have a costume after this don’t worry! We have 3,000 games on AddictingGames.com and that means tons of different characters are out there to inspire you for this Saturday night. You can’t lose with AG!

Walkthrough Wednesday: Escape 2: The Closet

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
Get me out of here!!

Get me out of here!!

You think The closet should be harmless enough right? I mean there’s nothing in there but some clothes, some books, and maybe a couple of dusty boxes. But you cant underestimate the unknown. It’s kind of like that little light in the fridge. Do we really know what goes on when the door closes? I mean any door can get stuck or lock by it’s self right? It happens in movies all the time!

In Escape 2:  The Closet it has happened again and it’s up to you to escape before you die of boredom!! Luckily EnjoiMyBladeshas has created this video walkthrough for Escape 2: The Closet to ensure that you don’t stay stuck in their for too long! We wouldn’t want you to start smelling like moth balls or anything! Give the game a try and use the walkthrough if you get stuck! Also you can get step my step instructions on how to get out of the closet here.

See you next week for another Addicting Walkthrough Wednesday!
